Summary (plain English)
Love Lisbon is a content site. You can read guides without creating an account, and we aim to keep data collection minimal.
Like most websites, basic technical data may be processed by our hosting provider for security, performance, and abuse prevention.
- No account required.
- Minimal tracking by design.
- Third-party content (maps/images) may load from external providers.
What data may be collected
When you visit a website, servers typically receive technical information needed to deliver the page: your IP address, user agent, and basic request metadata. This can be used for security and operational purposes (for example, mitigating abuse).
If we add analytics in the future, we aim to choose privacy-respecting options and document them here.
- Technical logs: IP address, user agent, and request metadata (typical for web hosting).
- No login profiles or account data (this site doesn’t require accounts).
Third-party services (maps and images)
Some pages load images (via Unsplash) and interactive maps (via OpenFreeMap tiles). When your browser loads these resources, the third-party service may receive your IP address and request headers to deliver the content.
If you prefer not to load third-party maps, you can disable JavaScript and use the no-JS fallback links on map pages.
- Images: served from Unsplash image hosts.
- Maps: rendered with MapLibre using OpenFreeMap tiles and OpenStreetMap data.
- No-JS option: map pages show a static list of pins + an OpenStreetMap link.
Contact about privacy
If you have a privacy question or concern, contact us with the page URL and a short description of what you observed.
We’ll do our best to respond and improve the site where appropriate.
What this site does not collect
It’s often clearer to say what isn’t happening. This site doesn’t have user accounts, so there are no profiles, passwords, or saved personal details. It doesn’t run a newsletter sign-up or a comments system on these pages, so it isn’t gathering names or email addresses through the guides themselves — the only time you’d share an email is if you choose to write to us, and then it’s used only to reply to and resolve your message.
We also aim to keep third-party tracking minimal by design. The data that does get processed is mostly the unavoidable technical kind any website receives in order to load (described below), plus whatever the external providers of maps and images necessarily see when your browser fetches their content. We do not sell personal information.
- No accounts, passwords, or saved profiles.
- No newsletter or on-page comment forms collecting your details.
- Email is only used to reply to a message you choose to send us.
Your choices and how to ask
Because the site doesn’t build a profile of you, there’s little personal data to manage in the first place. You can browser-side reduce third-party exposure by using the no-JavaScript fallbacks on map pages (which show a static list of pins and an OpenStreetMap link instead of loading the interactive map), and by using your browser’s standard cookie and tracking controls.
If you have a privacy question — including a request about any personal data you believe we hold, such as an email you sent us — get in touch and we’ll do our best to help. Please include enough context (for example, the page involved or the message you sent) so we can find and address it.
- Use the no-JS map fallback to avoid loading third-party map tiles.
- Standard browser cookie/tracking controls apply as on any site.
- Privacy requests: contact us with enough context to locate the matter.
